You'll find Vermont's historic Taftsville Country Store nestled in the scenic Ottauquechee River Valley, on Route 4 midway between Woodstock and Quechee in south-central Vermont. Our store has one of the finest assortments of Vermont cheese, including artisan cheeses, gourmet foods, pure Vermont maple syrup, wine, cigars, gift baskets, smoked bacon and ham you can find in the Upper Valley. This gem of a store is the centerpiece of the Taftsville Historic District, which includes one of Vermont's oldest and longest covered bridges, a turn of the century brick powerhouse, the stately Taft homes, and a quiet residential hamlet of less than one hundred people
Daniel Taft & Sons built the red brick store in 1840 to serve the local community and the many thriving enterprises that had appeared in and around Taftsville. One hundred and sixty years later, the store still serves as the village hub, as locals meet each morning to collect their mail at the Post Office, located in the back of the store, and grab a newspaper.
